Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Osteopractor?

An Osteopractor is a licensed healthcare professional, typically a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Medical Doctor, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, who has completed advanced postgraduate training in spinal and joint manipulation, dry needling, and evidence based manual therapy techniques. Osteopractors are highly specialized in the evaluation and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint dysfunction, and movement related disorders. Much like a patient may seek out a dermatologist for specialized skin care, an Osteopractor provides specialized care focused on the muscles, joints, nerves, and movement systems of the body.

Insurance & Scheduling

Austin Osteopractic & Wellness is currently welcoming new patients for appointments beginning August 2026. Both cash pay and insurance based options will be available. • Dry needling services performed during insurance based visits require an additional fee, as this service is not consistently reimbursed by insurance providers

Referrals

Under current Texas direct access laws, patients may receive physical therapy treatment without a physician referral for up to 30 business days. If continued care is needed after that time, a referral from a licensed medical provider will be required. Referrals may be brought to your appointment or sent electronically to the clinic. If needed, we are also happy to help guide patients through the referral process.

Please note that wellness based services do not require a referral at any time.
